Parking Agreement Georgia Tech and Emory University

RECIPROCAL PARKING AGREEMENT

 

At the beginning of each academic year, usually the first week of August, a current list of authorized users is provided to the Georgia Tech and Emory University parking offices.

  • This agreement does not extend to Georgia Tech or Emory undergraduate students, including undergraduate Biomedical Engineering students at Georgia Tech.
  • This agreement does not extend to Bioengineering students whose home department is not BME.
  • The agreement does not extend to Bioengineering students whose home department is BME, but are not assigned an advisor at Emory University.
  • Any fines owed to either Georgia Tech or Emory University on a current or previous permit must be paid before parking privileges will be renewed. 

To qualify as an authorized user, one must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Be employed as a faculty or staff member in The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University (BME).
  • Be enrolled in the MD/PhD program earning the PhD in Biomedical Engineering or Bioengineering with BME as the home department.
  • Be enrolled as a graduate student in the Biomedical Engineering (Joint) Ph.D. Program.
  • Be enrolled in the Bioengineering Program and have BME as the home department and work with an Emory faculty advisor on the Emory campus. (NOTE: This agreement does not extend to all students enrolled in the Bioengineering Program).

 

To be granted reciprocal parking privileges under this agreement, an individual meeting one of the above criteria must comply with the following procedures:

  • Register online and pay for parking privileges at the institution of hire.
  • Appear in person at the reciprocating institution’s parking office in mid to late August.
  • Present a photo I.D. (Driver’s License or Institution I.D. card)
  • Present proof of payment for parking at the institution of hire to the reciprocating parking office personnel. The required proof is a valid, current hangtag.
  • Parking officials in the respective parking offices are responsible for ascertaining that the requestor’s name is on the list of authorized users.
  • If the requestor’s name is not on the list, parking privileges will not be granted.
  • At Emory, first time parking registration requires completion of a parking application.  Thereafter, the Emory Parking Office automatically renews parking privileges for all active faculty and staff. However, the permit must be picked up by the individual user each year. Permits can be picked up at the Emory Parking Office or one of the designated pick up locations. These locations are announced in early August.
  • The Georgia Tech Parking Office does not automatically renew parking privileges; thus, this procedure must be repeated each year.  GT permits are valid from August 1 to July 31 of the following year for faculty, staff, and students. 
  • Register online and pay for parking privileges at Emory University.
  • Appear in person at the Georgia Tech Parking Office.
  • Present a photo I.D. (Driver’s License or Emory I.D. card).
  • Present proof of payment for parking at Emory University. The required proof is a valid, current Emory hangtag.
  • The Georgia Tech Parking Office will confirm that the requestor’s name is on the list of authorized users.
  • If the requestor’s name is not on the list, parking privileges will not be granted.
  • The Georgia Tech Parking Office will then as sign the student to a designated parking lot.
  • A Buzz Card (official Georgia Tech I.D. card) is required to gain access to a Georgia Tech parking lot. The requestor must have a Buzz Card before going to the Georgia Tech Parking Office. Issuance of a Buzz Card requires completion of certain forms by the BME Finance Office. Please go to the BME Business Office at Georgia Tech to complete these forms. This office located on the first floor of the U.A. Whitaker Building.
  • The Georgia Tech Parking Office does not automatically renew parking privileges; thus, this procedure must be repeated each year. 
  • Register online and pay for parking privileges at Georgia Tech.
  • Appear in person at the Emory University Parking Office or one of the designated pickup locations. These locations are announced in early August.
  • Present a photo I.D. (Driver’s License or Georgia Tech Buzz Card).
  • Present proof of payment for parking at Georgia Tech. The required proof is a valid, current Georgia Tech hangtag.
  • The Emory University Parking Office will confirm that the requestor’s name is on the list of authorized users.
  • If the requestor’s name is not on the list, parking privileges will not be granted.

 

  • At Emory, first time parking registration requires completion of a parking application.  Thereafter, the student must complete the online registration process required by Emory University.
  • Register online and pay for parking privileges at Georgia Tech.
  • Appear in person at the Emory University Parking Office or one of the designated pickup locations. These locations are announced in early August.
  • Present a photo I.D. (Driver’s License or Georgia Tech Buzz Card).
  • Present proof of payment for parking at Georgia Tech. The required proof is a valid, current Georgia Tech hangtag.
  • The Emory University Parking Office will confirm that the requestor’s name is on the list of authorized users.
  • If the requestor’s name is not on the list, parking privileges will not be granted.

 

  • At Emory, first time parking registration requires completion of a parking application.  Thereafter, the student must complete the online registration process required by Emory University.
