The Georgia Tech Biomedical Engineering Department’s RED Project is seeking to fill one full-time, 12-month Postdoctoral Fellow position with a focus on developing a more inclusive departmental and organizational climate via novel instructional strategies and other practices. This is a benefits-eligible appointment renewable on a yearly basis for up to five years and contingent upon satisfactory performance. Start date is negotiable.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to a thorough literature review, the development of a research program to improve our understanding of factors that promote or impede large-scale organizational change for inclusion, and assist with conducting the research, which will consist of both quantitative and qualitative analyses. In addition, the postdoctoral fellow will participate in development and evaluation of an educational component for faculty and students. Attendance and participation in related meetings, conferences and workshops is also expected. We anticipate the knowledge generated by this work will contribute to the development of more effective organizational change approaches that will be applicable to a wide range of settings, including in the academic, public, and private sectors.
The postdoctoral fellow will work with the project co-PIs: Dr. Julie Ancis, Dr. Wendy Newstetter, and Dr. Joe Le Doux.
Date: Start Date Negotiable (September 2017-January 2018)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct literature reviews, present briefs, and organize resources.
- Plan and conduct research projects autonomously while working collaboratively with the Co-PIs and project staff.
- Participate in project related meetings as needed.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Help develop and evaluate education and training modules.
- Perform other related duties as needed.
Knowledge and Skill Qualifications:
Applications are welcome from recipients of a PhD in psychology, sociology, education, anthropology, ethnography, or related field. Academic and/or professional experience related to the above research areas is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate should have demonstrated ability to perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Initial appointment is 12 months with renewal up to 5 years contingent upon funding and performance.
The position carries a yearly stipend of $50,000. In addition to stipend, the Postdoctoral Fellow will be provided with funding for reasonable and relevant research expenses.
