Faculty Position - Neuroimaging and/or Neural Engineering


The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering,( a joint department between Georgia Tech’s College of Engineering and Emory University’s School of Medicine (Atlanta, GA), invites applications for tenure track faculty positions at the assistant, associate, and full professor levels.

We are currently soliciting applications for faculty in Neuroimaging and/or Neural Engineering to be appointed and located in the Emory University School of Medicine.

Neuroimaging and/or Neural Engineering: Applicants are invited with a focus in at least one of the following areas:

  • Preclinical animal MRI (9.4T or 11.7T)
  • Novel methods for human brain imaging at high magnetic fields (7T)
  • MRI technology
  • Human, animal, and clinical models
  • Novel methods for recording and stimulating the nervous system
  • Quantitative and computational methodologies in neuroscience

Emory is making a substantial investment in preclinical and clinical imaging under the auspices of the Center for Systems Imaging Core, The expanded center will be sited in a new building, expected to be completed in the summer of 2022, and will include a new 11.7 T MRI for rodents and a 7T MRI for humans.

Successful candidate should have a research program synergistic with the existing strengths in the department and in the greater neural engineering communities at Georgia Tech and Emory. Information can be found at the following websites:,,, .

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in engineering, medicine, applied mathematics, computer science, or the natural sciences. Successful candidates will be expected to develop a vibrant externally-funded research program and to participate in teaching and advising undergraduate and graduate students.

Applicants should submit: (1) a letter of application describing how their research will be applied to address important clinical needs and how it will synergize with other research activities within the Biomedical Engineering Department (; (2) curriculum vitae; (3) a statement of research interests, not to exceed 4 pages and focusing on the impact of the candidate’s proposed research, the underlying questions, and the approach(es) to be taken; (4) a statement of education interests addressing teaching interests as well as their advising/mentoring philosophy, not to exceed 1 page; (5) a statement describing their understanding of, prior engagement and vision for creating inclusive environments in the laboratory, classroom, and community to support DEI, not to exceed 1 page; and (6) the names and contact information for at least three references.
