Tissue Engineered Heart
Level - GradProblem Statement:
Towards solving the lack of availability of heart transplants, you have the opportunity to apply for a $10M Tissue Engineering Research Consortium Partnership grant from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute to develop a tissue engineered heart. Your first task is to identify the consortium researchers (5-10 people) to design a tissue engineered heart with a summary of their overall objective and their approach in developing a tissue engineered heart. For each consortium researcher, define his/her role, provide a brief description of the project (200 words or less) and how it furthers the objective of the consortium and the specific aims (at least three per researcher) and within this, the hypothesis(es) that drive the specific aims. The researchers included in this consortium are expected to be state of the art researchers anywhere in the world whose expertise you believe is needed to develop a tissue engineered heart. Submit your preliminary proposal as a word attachment via e-mail to Professor Julia E. Babensee (julia.babensee@bme.gatech.edu), by 5 pm EST on October 9, 2002. For more information about the preliminary proposal requirements, see the Request for Proposals for Research on a Tissue Engineered Heart.
