Short Biography

PROJECT

Jay is a co-advised student with Dr. Michael Davis and Dr. Niren Murthy. His project focuses on improving the treatment of myocardial infarcts using drug delivery vehicles. Due to its unique non-inflammatory properties, Jay is pursuing the use of polyketal microparticles to inhibit inflammatory signaling pathways by delivering small molecule inhibitors as well as using new chemistries to improve protein delivery and particle targeting to cardiac myocytes and stem cells.

EDUCATION/BACKGROUND

Jay earned his bachelors in science and engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 2005. He majored in bioengineering and materials science and engineering. Following graduation, Jay worked in the Biomedical Engineering Department for a year as a research scientist. He is currently pursing his doctorate in the joint Biomedical Engineering department at Georgia Tech and Emory University with a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
