Welcome to the Davis Lab website

Our laboratory opened its doors in June, 2006 at Emory University as part of the joint Biomedical Engineering program at Emory University School of Medicine and Georgia Institute of Technology. Dr. Davis is an assistant professor in both the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering and the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine. Currently, the only major treatment for heart failure is transplantation. However, it is estimated that less than 30% of patients survive to receive their new hearts. The local cell death following myocardial infarction plays a major role in the progression of cardiac dysfunction. Our laboratory focuses on various aspects of cardiac regeneration and preservation using molecular-based and biomaterials-based approaches to restoring function after cardiac injury. Congratulations to Katie who was just awarded a postdoctoral fellowship from the American Heart Association. Dr. Davis was just nominated a second time for an Outstanding Early Career Award from the American Heart Association BCVS section. |

| The Davis lab (with Jay Sy as the lead author) just had an article published in Nature Materials on using polyketal microparticles to deliver small molecule therapeutics for myocardial infarction treatment. The article can be found here with a brief editorial here. Several sites picked up the findings including theheart.org which noted the clinical potential. Congrats on this collaborative effort. We are seeking to hire 1-2 postdoctoral research fellows. Applicants must have a strong background in molecular biology, some experience with in vivo work, and an excellent graduate publication record. Applicants should send a cover letter, CV, and 3 references to Dr. Davis for consideration. At this time, only US citizens will be considered. |
